Homewood Suites and Hampton Inn Hotel by Hilton,
Silver Spring, MD

We converted a 13-story office building, built in 1969, into a dual-branded hotel, which has won the 2008 Architectural Conversion Award. The hotel has 149 rooms on the lower eight floors and 90 studio suites on the top five floors. An indoor swimming pool is located in a vaulted area built beneath grade under the existing drive-up circle. An elaborate skylight allows natural light into the pool area while also serving as night art in the courtyard entry. Amenities include a business center, meeting rooms, and a fitness center. The project was completed in 2009.
